Reaction to Silent Beats Video

I think that when most of us saw that first part of the video, we already made a stereotype about the african american teenage boy. Both the elderly woman and the Chinese man both suspected that he was going to do something bad when really, he did probably the opposite of most of us though. The young man was just a victim of stereotyping. The old woman, looking so innocent and what not, was really the one who did the wrong thing. I think the video proved a point about false thinking.

What do you think was going through the african american boys head while in the store?

End of the Grading Period

This semester I don't think I did the best of my ability. I didn't try my hardest, focus enough, and I think I was just a little lazy. I procrastinate...a lot. That was one of the major problems. I try my best not too though. Another thing was that I just wasn't even really interested in most of my classes. I need to learn how to be more sociable. The only classes that I'd actually look forward to or were interested in are computer applications and honors world history. I like computer applications because I actually know what's going on and what we're talking about. That and I get to listen to music. I like honors world history because I like all of the people in the class (it's just that I don't really talk to them because I don't know what to say) and I just like that class period. In geometry I'm struggling. The stuff that I don't know I'm afraid to ask about it. It makes me look stupid....and I'm not. I hate it when people call me stupid. I just have a different way of learning. And most of the kids in that class are smarter than me and might think that. I really need to step up and start being more focused though. So this next grading period, I'm going to try harder than to keep A's and B's.

SWOT Analysis

I have a lot of ways that use to study. I tend to study the best when I'm on the computer and listening to music though.

S- Music helps me concentrate and get less distracted (most of the time at least). I usually have a playlist set up for school and homework so I don't have to keep clicking on which songs I want to listen to.

W- Since I'm on the computer, I can get distracted a little more easily. Sometimes while I'm studying I'll occasionally check Facebook, Twitter, etc.. After that, I just keep that tab open of the site I'm on and go back to studying while checking them occasionally.

O- I always have the opportunity to not use the computer and not listen to music. But it's kind of a habit now so if I don't at least do one of the two things, I have trouble focusing on work. I could just not do both of them and sit and do my homework in my dining room, but it's too loud anywhere else than the computer room. I also have the opportunity to just not even do any of my homework and just get on Facebook or something along those lines, but I don't and finish my homework.

T- Some threats of mine are my sisters, social networking, and my phone. My sisters always bother me or something and I can never focus with them around yelling at each other and what not. Then social networking is usually the thing that always gets me off task. I try my best to not to until I'm done with my work though. My phone is also one of the main things that distracts me. With texting and more that distracts me a lot. So I usually just put my phone on silent until my work is done.
